My name is Hannah Thompson, and I am the Recovery Coach at My Recovery Network.
Through my experiences and research, I understand the NDIS can be complex and overwhelming at times. But with the right support, it can also be a powerful tool for change. My role is to walk alongside you, to get to know you and your existing supports, and to help you build a network that truly aligns with your goals, values, and unique vision of recovery.

I am a fully registered nurse with no restrictions, accredited by AHPRA. My experience spans a range of settings including hospitals, aged care, disability support, psychiatric emergency care, and private mental health services such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

I hold a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Technology Sydney and a Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) from the University of Wollongong. I am currently a PhD candidate at the University of Wollongong, where my research focuses on the personal recovery experiences of people with psychosocial disability within the NDIS.

I work as a facilitator at Recovery Camp — a clinical placement program where most participants are NDIS-funded and living with psychosocial disability. Through this role, I support both nursing students and people with lived experience in a recovery-oriented, community-based environment.
(and...it's so much fun!!)

Alongside my clinical work, I am an active mental health researcher and published author. My recent work includes presenting at the international NETNEP conference and publishing research that amplifies the voices of people with lived experience in mental health care.

I recently presented at an International Conference in Singapore, where I presented my paper titled ‘Changing People’s Hearts’: The Lived Expertise Perspective of Communicating With Nursing Students at a Mental Health Clinical Placement. This research explores how people with lived experience shape the way future nurses understand and engage with mental health — and I was proud to share it on an international stage.

Alongside this, I’m continuing my studies at the University of Wollongong, where I’m exploring how people with psychosocial disability experience personal recovery while participating in the NDIS. This work underpins everything I do as a recovery coach - keeping my approach grounded, person-led, and focused on what matters most to you.

I also recently returned from Recovery Camp - a powerful, immersive experience where I work as a mental health nursing facilitator. It’s a place where university students and people with lived experience come together for connection, learning, fun, and growth through activities like rock climbing, high ropes, and creative reflection. It’s a pretty special space, and if you’re interested, we can even look at how similar opportunities might fit into your NDIS plan.
